YOGA THERAPY

What is yoga therapy?
Yoga therapy combines modern medicine with ancient wisdom. It is rooted in relationship and a deep commitment to principles of compassion, respect, and individualized support. Instead of adapting one's body or breath to the structure of a yoga class, a yoga therapist meets you where you're at to enhance all aspects of your well-being: physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Yoga Therapy believes that healing happens through trust and a felt sense of safety. The first session (intake) is a time to discuss not only your yoga goals/hopes/desires, but a space for your story to be heard--health history, relationship to rest, relationship to community, areas of joy, areas of overwhelm, and connecting the dots of all these valid pieces.

The second session is often an opportunity to notice (with curiosity) how different physical postures/movements and breath practices feel in your body. What feels spacious? What feels tight or restricted? What feels neutral?

From conversation and collaboration, a yoga therapist will create a program/treatment plan which respects and affirms your story and your body, while fostering well-being and balance.

Conditions that Yoga Therapy can support include:
Long COVID
Trouble with sleep
Digestive Issues
Chronic physical pain
Arthritis
Feelings of anxiety and overwhelm
Heart disease
Burnout recovery
Injury recovery
Cancer support
Chronic Conditions and Illness
Trauma-informed / Anti-Oppressive approaches to healing

Yoga Therapy is not a space for "fixing" or diagnosing physical or mental health conditions. But it is an effective therapeutic tool of support which can work in collaboration with healthcare providers. These tools might include: breath work, accessible movement, guided relaxation, mindfulness, visualization, yoga philosophy and lifestyle support,

Intake is always free of charge and payment plans are available. No one will be turned away because of a lack of funds.
